I was born in the United States in a big Italian family, where Italian customs and tradition played a key role and influence in my upbringing. My Mom and Dad were travelers of a different kind and would take many hiatus to exotic lands in far off places, leaving us children behind. However, one year when I was just a little girl, my parents decided it was time to take the entire family on an 8 months travel excursion throughout all of Europe. On our travels, we were introduced to many different cultures and experiences that ultimately changed the course of my life and influenced my perception of the world. It was then that I caught the travel bug and ever since, have incorporated traveling in my life's journey. I have found that my interests lie in the diversity of cultural language, ritualism, ceremony, customs, and cuisine. As I have gotten older, I realize that time is a fragile thing and should not be wasted or taken lightly. Therefore, I have decided to embark on a 2-year sabbatical by traveling abroad and quenching my thirst for global diversity and understanding. The only problem with this great idea of mine is the financial considerations that come into play in order to achieve this goal. That's where the TEFL course comes in. I would love nothing more than to have an impact on the people I meet, in the various countries I visit and impart to them the same enthusiasm for cultural diversity as I have. In my experience so far, I have been able to take part in "conversational English" with various people who have an interest in learning how to speak proper English. I've done this now for a while, but always felt I could have a bigger impact by incorporating the teaching aspect of English grammar as well. It was then that I decided to enlist in the TEFL course online. My hope is that, with this TEFL certificate, I will then be able to visit orphanages in Africa and teach the language to children who would otherwise not have the opportunity, take part in community projects assisting decentralized schools in their language department to underprivileged children, and volunteer as a teacher's assistant and get the real hands-on experience needed to feel confident doing it on my own. I'm also going to join a network of online teachers who instruct children (mostly in Asia) on proper English grammar and pronunciation of the language and get paid for it. This would not be possible without my TEFL certification. I can't imagine the many doors that will open up to me because of my decision to take the TEFL course online. For, not only will it now help me financially as I continue to travel throughout the world, but it will also help enrich my life in immeasurable ways I can't possibly conceive as I write this. I am unwavering in my desire and enthusiasm to touch people's lives by being the best I can be. And if there is one thing that my 57 years on this big, blue planet has taught me, it's that life is all about the experiences you have. Those experiences ultimately change and shape the course of your life and who you are in the world. I believe I am the richest woman I know because so far, my experiences have told me so.
