Teach English in ShuAngzhu Linchang - Shiyan Shi

The important of English Education is a must especially it is an International recognize language. But not all countries have a benefit or luxuries to learn like other did. Some Asian countries like Vietnam though students start to begin their English education very early at school, yet they find themselves helpless when it comes to speaking English. These are some problem of learners in Vietnam. 1.Overload students in one class The evaluation of students through the ability to pronounce/communicate is much more difficult when the classroom is too large. In addition, with the thin resources of qualified teachers to assess the pronunciation/communication ability of the students makes the problem even more difficult. The English teachers will have a harder time to manage the classroom if the number of students is too big. In teaching English, the teachers should pay attention to each and every student in order to really help them in becoming a good English speaker. However, this seems to be a big challenge if the number of students in one classroom is thirty or more. 2.Students lack of confidence to use English language Many Vietnamese learners face the common problem that although they spent six or seven years studying English at school, they can’t pronounce and English sentence correctly, and they are not confidence enough to communicate in English language. Though they understand English grammar very well, and even score high marks in examinations, but their communication skills are very poor and they are often too shy to even attempt to strike up a conversation. Vietnamese learners should not think too much about how they will sound and should not be afraid of making a mistake. To participate into English speaking clubs and a group of foreign national that only English is the way of communication is effective way to practice listening and speaking. 3.Vietnam quality of English teachers English teachers in Vietnam are lacking in quality and quantity. This makes program innovation much more difficult for Vietnamese training system. Even if the educational program changes in the direction of pronunciation/communication instead of just grammar alone, the small part of teachers is not qualified and brave enough to accurately assess students. 4. Vietnam English Education System Vietnamese Students are often taught English by Vietnamese teachers. Vietnamese teachers teach Vietnamese English. Vietnamese English by a Vietnamese mouth. Once a person speaks a language in a wrong way over a long period of time, he or she will always speak it wrong, it become a habit, a nasty habit, like smoking or drinking. English Education in Vietnam relies heavily on learning grammar and don’t spend enough time focusing on the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. In view to this, Education system had left Vietnam behind in term of infrastructure, working manner, disciple and curricula. In conclusion, English education in Vietnam must change. The first change, though, must be in the inside the system and English teachers itself. If they pronounce correctly, communicate well, they are able to train students and students to pronounce well and communicate. To this, it is necessary to be more rigorous about the standard of English teachers at least a TESOL Certified or within 90 TOEFL / 7.0 IELTS along with the necessary road map and support from the school and the Ministry of Education. On the other hand, students also must not only rely on school and teachers for their learner process. It is very importance that in day to day basic they need to practice English language to boost their own confidence and along the way adjustment and improvements will follow.
