The content of this unit was helpful in going through some of the basic skills necessary for comprehending the English language in a classroom setting. Having the components broken down into receptive skills and productive skills helped me to understand how language can be taught in progression. I think that the types of tools used in teaching these parts would depend on the language level of the students. It was helpful to look at the parts of language that need to be addressed for teaching, such as addressing vocabulary, choosing correct topics, creating interest, and performing tasks to promote comprehension. I would like to have more examples of how to create tasks to see if the students understand the language being taught in the lesson. I would assume there are many tools out there for lesson planning that can offer resources in that particular area (such as handouts and exercises). I hope that over time, I will be able to get more comfortable with this part of teaching the language.
