1.warm ups: A,Alphabet race: Students work in groups and have to come up with words beginning with as many letters as they can. It's good to give them a specific area of vocabulary, adjectives, words connected with a farm, things you can find outside etc... Ex: nouns related to farm, starting with C:crop, community, country, culture, company,... B.boom! You need Relevant vocabulary for review on the board or on slips of paper. A ball( or pencil case or similar that can easily be tossed and caught) How to play Choose a "boom number "-3 is a good one to start with. Students stand in a circle toss the object from student to student randomly. Each person catching the object must count as they do so. Whenever they come to a multiple of the boom number they must say "boom !"instead of the number, as follows,"1 2-boom! 4 5 -boom!" whenever someone counts in correctly or drops or misthrows the ball, they must take a slip of paper or choose a word from the board to make a questions to ask of the group. Repeat until all vocabulary is dealt with. C. What can you do with...a potato? Oldie but goodie especially with creative students or teenagers. You give a word ( a noun, obviously) and the students have 3-5 minutes to come up with as many uses of the thing as possible. Are also known as brainstorms or mind maps they are one of the most effective ways of teaching vocabulary. Students are provided a key word and asked to build on it Micrologues? Is a short summary of events short story. It is an organized conversation based method which allows the learners to talk about an event.(this can be a past, present, or future event).in this method the students are asked to summarize an event in class and allow them to listen to other students responses and eventually write down the story. This methodology incorporates listening, speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar Procedure 1.choose a topic that students will enjoy talking about. Make sure these topics are related to their personal lives so that they can easily relate. 2. Choose your micrologue strategy for the day: A.orally share a micrologue in class B.write a micrologue C.write a micrologue and read it in front of the class. Place or draw pictures on the board let students create stories using the past, present or future tense for intermidiate or above levels.
