This course has proven to be very valuable and I feel that I have come away with a lot of useful information, tips & material to use in my future career. In the past I have done a lot of reading regarding teaching english as a second language and everything just seemed so disjointed. This course has put everything in perspective for me. It has given me a clear and concise guide for everything that I need to know as an ESL teacher and covered the most important grammar topics that seemed to have been giving me problems. I have learned various teaching skills which I will apply to my future teaching. Some of the many things I will implement in my classrooms are as follows: I will control my use of the students mother tongue when explaining, sticking only to english in class. Very valuable has been the lesson planning ideas. which I will implement with every lesson that I do, creating an archive which I can then recycle for future lessons. Use of course books, supplementing, omitting etc thereof, use of authentic material, teacher made material will all know become part of my lessons. I will definitely be spending more time on preparing my board work, to make it more effective. Overall I feel that the course was very well structured and covered many areas which are necessary to enter a classroom with confidence to begin teaching correctly from the very beginning. I know feel I can call myself an ESL teacher. Thank you !
