The importance of English in the modern world is so great, that almost every parents want to see their children succeed. It is taught everywhere: in schools, universities, training schools and even kindergartens. It is assumed that any educated person is simply obliged to speak English, since it is the key to further self-education and self-improvement. Parent’s role in the educational process is important as teachers. Parents teach their kids their native language, because for the first few years of a child's life they talk to him or her, ask to repeat the syllables and sentences, help to build sentences from the simple to the complex. The voices of parents and their individual manner of pronunciation give their child the first impressions of the native language. This means that parents, even with a basic knowledge of English, can help their children learn a foreign language using similar teaching techniques. For example, teaching English to children occurs when simple English phrases are repeated many times (namely, phrases and not words). This is how parents help their children start thinking in English by performing some simple , but important steps. Children instantly remember phrases if they are physically involved in the process they are talking about or singing about. So when parents say go, they need to walk, when they say run - they have to run, when they say that they are swimming – they should mime swimming movements themselves, and, of course, ask the children to perform these actions with them. More often parents must illustrate the vocabulary with fairy tales (known and specially invented), games, scenes, home competitions, more visualize and encourage the imagination of the child. Perhaps he or she might want to come up with a new story or game. They should never scold the child for failure or forgetfulness, try to organize the learning process so that the child wants to remember a word or expression, then he or she will have more chances to remember them. The child's existing habits and tendencies for educational purposes can also be used. For example, if a child likes to draw, this can be a great help for the parents. Buying books, coloring books in English, audio-video materials (discs, videotapes, educational cartoons and movies) will turn the learning of a foreign language into an exciting and relaxed activity! Parents are the closest ones for the children and if they show their interest it would be easier for their kids to share their learning successes with them. Praises by parents (but only deserved) are great incentive for the child. Parents should never forget that their children are always happy and waiting to be praised, to enjoy their success. Another important thing is that, parents ought to communicate with teachers. Teachers may suggest the best approaches and methods for practicing English at home. They also could suggest an appropriate way of reviewing the home tasks. On the other side, parents can tell the teacher something about students’ moods and concerns that is hard to see in the class, so the teacher might be able to use this feedback for the improvement of students learning progress. The most important thing that parents can do for their children is regularly monitor their homework and interact with their English teacher. To sum up, it is worth to be noted that, parent’s role in the learning process of their child is indispensable in regardless of their background or personal English abilities.
