The link between global world and English will be focused on over the connecting role of English and it’s impact effect on science and bussiness world. English as a Global Language ‘’English as a global language has been used by people in the World as a first language, a second language and a foreign language. According to Crystal (1997) English is spoken as a first language in the United States, Canada, Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and several Caribbean countries. English as second language and official language it is spoken by people in more than seventy countries. As a foreign language it is now taught in more than hundred countries including China, Russia, Germany, Spain, Egypt, Brazil and Indonesia. Besides, as one of the four languages spoken in the UN, English has gained a stronger status in the world. English language is used as a means of communication in various contexts such as government, the judiciary, the media and the educational system. The business correspondence and the international trade among different countries in the world is carried out in English. According to Mauranen (2003) “nearly 85% of all the scientific and technological information is written in English”. Inorder to make the people to be international citizens it is very important to teach English at every level of learning. The significance of English language spread widely in the present scientific and technological world. All the research, computer and updated knowledge is in English language. If Indians want to pursue higher education and become leaders of the world has to be proficient in English language. If they are proficient in English language, communication with people of other countries would become easy. Therefore, the Government has been encouraging either directly or indirectly for the teaching and learning of English. The Secondary Education Commission (1964-66) has therefore, exclaimed English as a ‘Library Language’, ‘Link Language’ and a ‘Window on the World’. Eversince, there was a constant efforts to improve the language skills of learners.’’ (Benny, 2019) ‘’Growing demand for English in the context of modern day development The demand for English has been sweeping almost all the fields of national life like politics, international relations, and media, Communication, travel and education. Most of the earlier scientific innovations were made in Britain and are now continued in America. The advancements in Science and Technology and their use of new terminology have been showing an immediate impact on the language, adding tens of thousands of words to the English lexicon. As these innovations come down from the English-speaking countries, those who wish to update their knowledge and learn about new inventions need to learn English well. This need has resulted in a dramatic increase of the expository material in the English language. Besides all the dictionaries, encyclopedias and books of knowledge are written and printed in English. Hence, the access to new knowledge is only through the English language. The English language has been an important medium of the press for nearly 400 years. Right from the Weekly News.(l622) and the London Gazette (1666), there has been a continuous rise of newspapers and Journals in English. With the introduction of new printing technology and new methods of mass production and transportation, by the end of 19th century, there were nearly 2000 newspapers in the English language According to the data compiled y the Encyclopedia Britannica (1994), about a third of the world’s newspapers are being published in the countries where the English language has a special status. A review of the influence of the individual newspapers (as reported in the Book of Lists, 1977) says that the top five papers are in English: the first is New York Times, followed by The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and the two British papers, The Times and The Sunday Times. Another widely quoted statistics is: about 80 percent of the world’s electronically stored information is currently in English. This includes two kinds of data: information stored by the individual firms, organizations and libraries etc., and the information made available through the internet. This is so because the first protocols devised to carry data on the Net were developed from the English alphabet. It is an accepted truth that if one wants to take a full advantage of the internet and World Wide Web, it is possible only by learning English; because most of the browsers are still unable to handle multilingual data presentation. Thus, the English language provides the chief means of access to high-tech communication and information. This makes us conclude that English will retain its role as the dominant language in the modern world. Further, it continues to remain as the world’s language for international communication as the whole world is heading towards the formation of a global village.’’ (Reddy,2012) Benefits Of Learning English In Professional Fields ‘’English is also necessary for the field of education. In many countries, children are taught and encouraged to learn English as a second language. Even in countries where it is not an official language. We will find many curriculums in science, engineering education filed are written in English. Because it is the dominant language in the sciences, most of the research and studies you find in any given scientific field will be written in it as well. At the university level, students in many count study almost all their subjects in English in order to make the material more accessible to international students. English remains a major medium of instruction in schools, universities. There are large numbers of books that are written in the Englis language. English literature is vast and rich. Many of the latest scientific discoveries are documented in English. The Internet and Press: On the Internet, the majority of websites are written and created in English. Even sites in other languages often give you the option to translate the site. It's the primary language of the press: more newspapers and books are written in English than in any other language, and no matter where in the world you are, you will find some of these books and newspapers available. In fact, because it is so dominant in international communication, you will find more information regarding nearly every subject if you can speak this language. According to a report by Education First, English is the language of the internet. An estimated 565 million people use the internet every day, and an estimated 52 percent of the world’s most visited websites are displayed in the English language. Learning English is important as it gives access to over half the content on the internet. Know,ng how to read English will allow access to billions of pages of information which may not be otherwise available. English skills will also help us in any business venture you choose to follow. If we visit some offices, companies, governmental organizations, or even math or engineering companies, we will see the importance of English. Any big company will hire their professional staff after getting to know whether the people they are hiring are good at English or not. Companies who want to function at an international level only consider their staff well educated if they are good English speakers, writers, and readers. English is the dominant business language and it has become almost a necessity for people to speak English if they are to enter a global workforce. Research from all over the world shows that cross-border business communication is most often conducted in English and many international companies expect employees to be fluent in English. Global companies such as Airbus, Daimler Fast Retailing, Nokia, Renault, Samsung, SAP, Technicolor, and Microsoft in Beijing, have mandated English as their official corporate language. In addition, in 2010 the company Rakuten, a Japanese cross between Amazon and Ebay, made it mandatory for their 7,100 Japanese employees to be able to speak English.’’ (Nishanthi,2018) Conclusion By observing all these datas linking the accessibility of info, hence the educational process that leads to proffessional carrier to English, it becomes a must to learn English, hence it became the official language of scientific and bussiness database and communication through the developmental process of history. English is also the language of the press and media. Being up to date, stay close to updates, following the news and the publications is a general must for science and bussiness field. Therefore teaching English gains a significant importance which teaches the canal that leads to universal opportunities and enables the accessibility to information, that way it also serves to fight the inequality in education.
