I am working with kids for nearly ten years and now I would speak and discuss the parent’s role in the kid’s education. We know that the teacher has some specific roles in the classroom and of course in the kid’s education too, and generally when the parents bring their kid to a new institution they always pay attention to the teacher’s role and don’t speak about theirs. Research shows that when parents are involved in their children’s education, children are more engaged with their school work, stay in school longer, and achieve better learning outcomes. This also translates into longer-term economic and social benefits. Even though the role of a parent in their children’s education evolves as children get older, it’s important to remember that parents remain role models. Their attitudes towards education can both inspire children and empower them as they go through their own educational journey. Parent’s participation in the child’s education begins with their family in their community and school. When a child is already in school the important thing for a parent to do is to find ways to collaborate, to work as closely as possible with the teachers who organize the child education, because both parents and teacher are the members of our society who are often guided by still existing stereotypes that new school goers can’t overcome critical age easily. Here is the big role puts on school’s, psychologist’s shoulders. As I am a pre-school psychologist I should say very often parents and teachers panic stressed more than the situation worst? What a new school goer need is it learn by playing, that is why collaboration really makes the parent more realistic about their child’s abilities and makes the teacher more confident. A balance of education at home and school helps the child to divide his or her attention to the learning process and make it easier, but on the other hand there are parents who involving child’s home learning process without having connection with the teachers and I in this way start to disturb the child. I think in this case what really parents should do is to inspire the kids be a role model for learning. There are some parents who over schedule their child and he or she looses the motivation of learning and they start to think that learning process is for their parents not for them, because he or she really understands what parents want from him or her. It is another important task that is worth writing parents demand from school, so the best result can bring time by time organized parents meetings at school. One of my favorite classical example is Abraham Lincoln’s mother letter to his son’s teacher. I want to finish my essay with this part: ‘So dear teacher will you please take him by his hand and teach him things he will have to know, teaching him but gently, if you can teach him that for every enemy there is friend. Teach him to be gentle with people. Teach him there can be glory in failure despair in success. The key of having a motivated child is to have a corporation between school and parents.
