Although I have 4 years of teaching experience and I?m studying a Master?s degree in applied Linguistics, I had never done a teacher training program. For this reason, this tefl course has been very useful, especially because the master?s program is very theoretical, while this course is much more practical. I?ve learned to: - Design lesson plans according to the ESA model. - Be more creative when designing lesson plans when planning different types of activities to practice different linguistic items. - Explain grammar in a simple way without the use of my students? mother tongue. - Provide more examples when explaining grammar. - Provide corrective feedback at the right moments. - Solve problems which (may) occur in the classroom and prevent them. - apply more ideas and varying activities in my lessons. - Use ELT websites. - Use a bigger variety of classroom equipment. - Train and help other teachers. As I?m already an english teacher, I could apply directly what I was learning. Also, in the future I will use the lesson plans I designed and apply the theory I have learned throughout this course. My new goal is becoming a TEFL teacher trainer and to open my own TEFL school.
