Throughout the course I was frequently reminded of the various forms and grammatical rules that are a part of english that we, as native speakers, have learned over the years on a mostly sub-conscious level. We will say things in a very specific manner, and although there many only be a shade of difference in meaning between one way to say something and another, often we don't think about why we say things the way we do. We simply just do it. This course has made me realize that english really is quite complex, and because of this, english learners deserve that much more patience and encouragement in their learning experience. I have been reminded also of various rules and conjugations that I had forgotten since High School and College, as well as being reminded of many games and activities that will fit well in the ESL classroom. I have gained a great deal of very practical, and directly applicable career knowledge. The knowledge of how to create a lesson plan, how to test and evaluate, how to use my teaching aids to their maximum use, and most importantly, how to engage with students in the classroom through the ESA approach will all most certainly prove to be very valuable. The manner I plan on putting what I have learned into action is by actually doing it. Firstly, by actually intending, planning and following though with applying what I've learned is step one. Secondly, I'll be printing out this course or adding it on a portable device for the long 12 hour flight to South korea, and I will be reviewing my course material yet another time to keep it fresh in my mind, and easily accessible.
