I have gained quite a few things from my studies in this program which I hope will benefit me in my teaching career as well as enriching the education that I provide my students. First, I have been encouraged that I do know my stuff when it comes to the grammar involved in teaching english and so I will be more confident in preparing for and teaching my students as well as answering their on the spot questions. Second, I believe I come away from this course with not only many great ideas for use in my classes but also a strong understanding of the methodology behind what should happen in an english classroom. I plan to use these concepts to strengthen my lesson planning and delivery not only in my curriculum classes but also in my after school programs. Finally, I have been reminded of the pitfall of using the students? native language too much and plan to stop using it myself as well as discussing with my Korean co-teacher about how we can limit her use of Korean in the classroom.
