This Unit was fantastic because it offered a visual demonstration of what constitutes ineffective versus effective teaching styles. There are various examples of what not to do in the first video, for example asking the same question repeatedly while expecting the students to automatically understand without any actual explanation. And as for the second video, having the opportunity to observe exemplary teaching really gave me a much greater perspective on what it means to have good teaching habits. For example, the way he began the lesson by first starting with simply writing his name on the board and getting their names in turn is an excellent way to get the class warmed up and engaged for the next phases of the lesson while also establishing rapport with the students. Overall, I have a much better understanding of how to navigate a lesson after completing this Unit.
