In this unit I learned some basic classroom management skills. The unit covered body language, including voice, gestures, and eye contact. It also covered appropriate ways of using the student's name and classroom arrangement and benefits of various arrangements. Other topics covered were building rapport, maintaining discipline, and teacher's position within the classroom. Teacher's position can be used to either maintain or relax control. Teachers should stand when giving instructions or presenting new content. Sitting, or a combination of sitting and walking around to monitor may be appropriate for other activities.
