This unit shows the importance of testing learners as it not only shows the progression of your students but also your capabilities as a teacher. Having students taking these exams gives them confidence to either know how well they are progressing or how much more they need to put into becoming better at the language. Tests like the placement test and the progress test are vital because you cannot have a student with beginner level of English placed in an advanced level class or the other way around because they will not be able to reach their full potential and more importantly become confident and fluent in the language.
