In this lesson I learned about teaching production skills in the English language, specifically speaking and writing. The lesson emphasizes that writing is often neglected in class because it may necessitate quiet time, but that writing is very important and can be particularly difficult to produce in English. This difficulty stems in part from English not being a phonetic language. Students may have trouble with words that are spelled the same, or sound the same, but mean different things.
