In this unit, the importance of fluency and accuracy in writing and speaking was discussed. I learned that an emphasis on accuracy is needed to properly teach word precision, especially in the study stage. Likewise, and emphasis on fluency should be equally encouraged in the activate stage when students are able to be creative and use the language freely. Writing and speaking are also very important to practice with students. Many are reserved to speak openly, so games and drilling is an easy way to combat that. Writing can be uncomfortable for many foreign learners because the English language is written so differently. Practice in proper form and spelling is very important.
