Two of the important integrated skills are speaking and writing. They are both used for the purpose of communicating. Writing is often times neglected and only studied as homework. Most students like to focus on speaking English but writing should not be ignored. Accuracy and fluency are equally important. Accuracy activities focuses on producing correct language. Fluency activities focus on concentrate on allowing students to experiment and to be creative with language. Accuracy based activities are teacher controlled. Fluency based activities are created by the teacher but content of the language comes during such activities as free roll-play, discussions, debates, simulations and communication games. It is also the job of the teacher to encourage students to speak in in the classroom. Students are reluctant to speak but a good teacher will figure out why and will successfully motivate them to participate willingly.
