Speaking and writing are 2 productive skills. While substantially they are different in many ways, they have the same purpose - to communicate.Writing skill is more often relegated to home work, so the skill developes when the home work is done and requires greater degree of accuracy. When speaking, misunderstandings can be cleared up "on the spot", whilst it is not possible with writing. Speaking requires degree of fluency as the speaker will not have time to think and plan an answer. The games in the classroom are also very important, they can be competitive and co-operative.
