This unit covers the productive skills: speaking, and writing. Both are equally important. For speaking there are accuracy and fluency activities for improvement, both types are equally important as well. Controlled and guided activities are more accuracy oriented while creative communication is a fluency activity. Writing is often overlooked but is just as vital as speaking skills. Language usage can be different from speaking when writing. If the student's first language doesn't use the same alphabet handwriting can be tricky. With English spelling is also tricky.
