I did not realize penmanship was so important. Then, I realized that certain countries do not use the English Alphabet. Of course it could be discouraging to not write clearly in English and it could present future problems when a student has a to do something in writing. I would like to come up with clever ways to work on penmanship and writing. I still write with the same penmanship I learned in first and second grade and still use the same cursive I learned in third grade. Using simple penmanship has never caused any problems for me. I understand that writing might be discouraging for some of my students, so I will be aware of that sensitivity.
