In this Unit, I learned about receptive skills. Firstly, I learned what the receptive skills are. They are reading and listening. The lesson covered reasons students use receptive skills, either for a purpose or for entertainment. The lesson then goes more in depth with other reading/listening skills such as scanning, skimming, listening for detailed information, and or using context clues/predictive skills. The lesson then goes into how to effectively teach these skills, by carefully selecting reading/listening material students may find interesting, or to generate interest through use of the engage stage of the lesson.
