This unit is about the remaining grammatical patterns that we are likely to encounter while teaching English as a second language. This unit highlighted modal auxiliary verbs, passive voice, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. It is important to understand grammar so that we can effectively teach it to students. Modal verbs are important because they are used very frequently in English. Passive voice is important to understand. Relative clauses are important to know to qualify things more quickly. Phrasal verbs are important to understand because we use them all the time and can be very confusing to non-native speakers.
