Speaking and writing are skills that are very different but both used to communicate. In speaking, accuracy and fluency are equally important. Usually accuracy based activities are controlled by the teacher and when the students have grasped a concept accurately they are then encouraged to be creative with the language skill through a fluency activity. Writing on the other hand is quite different to speaking. It incorporates handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation and creative writing. Most students prefer to develop speaking skills over writing skills, however they are equally important and necessary for learning.
