Unit 2 deals with basic ideas regarding teaching and learning. A lot of this material came to me naturally in the span of teaching children for 10 years, but it is refreshing to see it all on paper and I believe that taking this course before teaching would have saved a lot of time. It is also encouraging to me own experience to see in writing that nine- to thirteen-year-olds don't enjoy singing, which is a frequent topic of debate in junior high school education in Japan. Also useful was the information on maturationists, constructivists, etc. I will look more into information regarding this outside of the lesson.
