Course books and created materials are both necessary and may have the same degree of importance. The teacher must decide which materials are more appropriate for the students. One material may work over the other. The effectiveness of the materials used in the teaching is on the appropriateness and the relevance to the students learning objectives. Unit 14 discusses both the downside and the benefits of using coursebooks. In my own opinion and experience, created materials bring more real personal connection with the teacher than coursebooks and it affects teachers attitude and motivation in the delivery of the lesson.
