The English language student must not only be aware of the language?s irregularities but also the subtleties and nuances of structure. A teacher must guide students through the conditionals as they would in building a structure using blocks; first beginning with the basic phonemes, clauses, and then fusing them together to make sentences placed in past and future situations. This takes time but with practice the student can become confident in creating complex sentence structures. I learned good approaches in the use games and classroom activities to help students with conditionals and direct and reported speech.
