Teaching a new language usually comprises teaching vocabulary, grammar and functions of this language. ESA methods are appropriate in teaching all these aspects. An effective teacher should use the following criteria in selecting vocabulary: appropriacy to the students, appropriacy to the task, frequency and coverage and teachability. In the unit different techniques for teaching vocabulary, grammar structures and functions at every phase of ESA-lesson (Engage, Study, Activate) are given. Also there are some samples of possible Straight Arrow, Boomerang and Patchwork ESA structures which an effective teacher may use.
