This unit focuses on lesson planning. Lesson planning has a number of important functions, such as an aid to planning, a working document and it functions as a record. A lesson plan should be written down, with a number of key elements in mind. These include: keep it simple, do not script the lesson, and keep it flexible and adaptable. It is important to be organised, to make sure the equipment works and arrange the seating as desired. Thereby, there are a number of things that should be included in a lesson plan: learner objectives, personal aims, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure, class level, etc. The unit then goes on to planning a sequence a lessons. When doing so, there are a number of important things to keep in mind: flexibility, goals, revision, variety and balance. The unit provides an example lesson plan, and example activities for different stages of the lesson.
