Lesson planning is helpful for organizing lessons, keeping track of what students are learning, which activities work best to achieve student learning and their progress, and a teacher's self-evaluation of their effectiveness in the classroom. Lesson plans should always be flexible and not rigid. A teacher should be organized, have their ESA lesson plan, and their classroom materials ready prior to class. Lesson plans should include additional activities in case planned activities are completed quickly (fill time); and if planned activities take longer than expected (class is running long), some of the planned activities can be postponed until a later class.
