This unit taught me how to engage students to elicit their listening and reading skills. Having a large variety of topics means the students will not be bored and will connect better with the material. Also, authentic material may be daunting to beginner students, who will focus how much they don't know rather than what they do know, so it should be used sparingly and with pre-taught vocab to bolster confidence.
