This unit covers the different types of course materials that can be used in a classroom. It talks about the difference between authentic materials and created materials and describes how they are both useful and how they can be used in a classroom. The unit talks specifically about using course books in the classroom, it describes criteria to consider when selecting an appropriate course book for a class, the advantages and disadvantages of using a coursebook and good ways to use a course book when teaching a class. I learnt that when using a course book it is useful to add extra content you have created to keep the class engaging, sometimes omitting and adapting the regular material in the course book, not just using the book for the whole lesson. This allows you to tailor the lesson to the specific needs of the students.
