Unit 14 teaches the pros and cons of coursebooks and lesson materials. First, the unit covers the use and differences of authentic and creative materials, how anything authentic in our day-to-day activities is pre-existing; whilst creative materials are produced to personally teach or reinforce a specific learning point. Later, it analyses the use of the course book, the advantages, the disadvantages, the "best use of" and optional use, it generally explains how the course book is an effective means of keeping a level of continuity and grading, although it won't always fit the dynamics of the class and how a teacher shouldn't always be directly reliant on its use.
