Unit 13 discusses the importance of pronunciation skills and phonology. I had no idea of any of the terminology behind the different sounds that we produce when we are saying words like "five", "school", and "the". Learning more about this topic can help make it easier to explain to the students. Also, the intonation used when speaking is something that I was never aware of. After studying this unit I realized how much native speakers take advantage of using intonations without having to think about whether it is right or wrong and how challenging it must be for the students to attempt to acquire this skill. This unit has probably been the most beneficial for me thus far.
