This unit presents two samples of teaching ESL learners. One class experience is drab, confusing and intimidating because the teacher did not open the class with the right atmosphere and did not put up the right attitude. Similarly, his instructions were quite unclear and he did not bother to demystify them. On the other hand, the second lesson spurs the students' participation as the teacher's demeanor is quite remarkable. He smiles all through the lesson and calls the students by name. He opens his class eliciting information towards the target language. Also, he gives clear instructions and ensures that the students comprehends it. He also gives the students more talk time.
