Phonology is the study, science, analysis and classification of the physical properties of sound. Here we will deal with areas of stress rhythm and intonation. Intonation is generally considered to be the variation in volume and pitch in a whole sentence. Methods of teaching intonation are nonsense words, by gesture, humming or singing, and the board. After stress word the intonation begins to fall rules for stress are, one word has only one stress and we can only stress syllables. In normal speech are more syllables with outstress, or unstressed, than with stress. Techniques for indicating and teaching stress are contrastive stress, by gesture, coral work, the board and stress marks. There are four major ways that sound joins together in English, like Linking,sound dropping,sound changing and Extra lettering. Articulation, place of articulation are velar, Palatal, palatal-alveolar, alveolar, dental, labio-dental,bilabial and glottal. Mnners of articulation are plosive, fricative, nasal, lateral, africate and approximate.
