Although being a native english speaker, I've learned a great deal about the english language, whether it had been forgotten or never learned. While this course prepares you for teacherhood, it really makes you think about the students - what will benefit them the most - which I think is tremendous. I believe this course covered all the basics, in a clear and precise way, that are necessary to enter a classroom with the confidence to begin teaching right from the get-go. Furthermore, I have learned various teaching skills that can be applied to all areas of expertise in the future - not just restricted to teaching english. This course has been the launching point for an adventurous time in my life. A few years ago, I studied abroad in ireland and I can without-a-doubt say that ireland will always have a piece of my heart. I want to be able to say this about many parts of the world. I want more than a superficial tourist's view of a country. I want to make a difference by teaching english. I want individuals' lives to be enhanced by the skills acquired in my classes, and this course has provided me with the tools to begin. Individuals who have lived oversees are able to offer a different perspective and awareness that I believe is an asset in both the classroom and the professional world. I know teaching english will be challenging, but the cultural awareness and self-knowledge gained by living and working in another part of the world, working with individuals from other cultures, will be invaluable. I can't wait to see the world from the eyes of a teacher and begin this journey that will ultimately lead me to understand the place we all call home. Let the cultural education of a lifetime begin! Thanks a million for all your words of wisdom, Jon!
