Rome
Just picture yourself enjoying a gelato ice cream on a warm Italian night, while sitting on the Spanish Steps and watching the people pass by… The combination of historical fascinations and simple pleasures that Rome has to offer make it, quite simply, one of the most remarkable cities in the world!
The eternal city of Rome has been at the forefront of European history, culture and religion for thousands of years. No other city in the world can rival the wealth of history and beauty that can be witnessed here, with the architectural wonders of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and the ruins of the Roman Forum; the fascinating and powerful religious presence of the Papal State of the Vatican; the artistic triumph inside the Cistine Chapel, and so much more.
Yet the modern daily-life of Rome continues beautifully amid this background of ancient history. The hectic vibrancy of this exciting city is felt at every moment, with the wildly-anarchic traffic systems and busy streets.
The many piazzas with their cobblestone streets and courtyards are continually filled with locals and tourists alike, partaking in the sheer joy of a gelato ice-cream cone, a full moon or the perfect weather.
Outdoor restaurant terraces offering phenomenal cuisine and wines take over sidewalks and piazzas, and offer perfect spots for watching the people and every day life pass by - of course while sipping on a cappuccino!
The city of Rome is situated halfway down the Italian West Coast. While the city itself is very large, the historical center is compact and easily accessible, and a walking tour of the city's major historic and cultural sites is possible in one day.
At a distance of only 12 miles from the coast, Rome is perfectly situated to combine the hustle and bustle of a major city with Mediterranean beaches.
Because Rome - and italy in general - has a large variety of English teaching positions, suitable for the newly qualified teacher, it is a great choice of location for taking a tefl international TESOL course!

Frequently Asked Questions
What are my payment options?
ExpandCourse deposits must be paid to our administrative center. Credit/debit card payments are the fastest and cheapest way to pay, but we also accept payments via Western Union, Pay Pal and bank transfer. While there are no deadlines for a deposit, courses can fill up quickly and your seat will only be reserved after the deposit has been paid.
Once you make your deposit, you will receive an email with an informational packet that provides detailed information about the course and Rome itself.
The balance of course fees are payable on the first day of class and can be made with a credit/debit card or in cash. Alternatively, you can pay the balance via Pay Pal or bank transfer before the first day of class.
Course fees are all-inclusive so you won’t be asked to pay additional costs for course related materials or services. This also includes course moderation and accreditation fees, airport pick-ups* and lifetime job assistance.
* If you are in our accommodation program, we offer a courtesy pick-up service from Fiumicino airport to your accommodation on the Friday before the beginning of the course from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
What are my accommodation options?
ExpandWe offer apartment accommodation in the city centre and the surrounding area. The apartments are comfortable and simply furnished with equipped kitchens. Blankets and sheets are provided, but bath towels are not. Our apartment accommodation prices start from around 450 € for a single room and 400 € for a shared room.
The accommodation fee is paid to the landlord or landlady directly upon your arrival, in euro and in cash. The landlady or landlord may well ask for a deposit in advance (which will not be refundable if you cancel the booking) but this will be deducted from the final sum you pay upon arrival.
What travel documents will I need for italy?
ExpandThis information is specific to your country of origin and always subject to change. For the most accurate and current information regarding travel documents to Italy, please contact your nearest Italian consulate. There is also a very good chance that all the information you require (application documents, application fees, duration of processing documents) is available on the embassy’s webpage.
What is the course schedule?
ExpandClasses generally begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until 1:30 p.m. during which grammar and theory are discussed. Afternoons are spent planning lessons with our trainers. Trainees then teach their lessons during the afternoons and evenings, possibly until 8:30 p.m.
What can I expect during teaching practice?
ExpandAnnually, our school has about 900 students of all ages and all levels, so our trainees will have the opportunity to experience all kinds of teaching situations. The students come from many backgrounds, countries (though typically Italy) and work places.
Lessons are based upon real teaching resources found all over the world and you will have the chance to create your own materials as well. You will receive the aid of your course trainer throughout lesson planning and receive immediate feedback on your lesson after it’s been delivered. Practicum is assessed and a satisfactory assessment is required to earn your TEFL/TESOL certificate.
Who usually attends the course?
ExpandOn average we have about twenty five students enrolled on each program, most of whom are American or British, but we also have students from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa amongst others. Ages range from 20 to 60 years old, although the majority of our students are between 22 and 30 years old.
Is there a dress code?
ExpandDuring trainees’ lessons, casual attire is allowed. During teaching practice, you will need to dress in trousers/skirts and closed-toe shoes. Men need collared shirts, while women need to wear conservative tops that will cover their shoulders. No visible tattoos or facial piercings are allowed while teaching local students.
What should I bring for course studies?
ExpandJust like the first day of any other school, you will need some supplies. We will give you your course material and notebook, but you will need to have your own pens and pencils. You may also want scotch tape, a stapler, highlighters, colored pencils and markers, glue, scissors and white-out. You will also need to buy your own paper for the photocopier. All of these materials can be purchased from a store near the school if you do not wish to bring them from home.
Please note that we have wireless internet available at the school for hooking up a laptop but normally there are no phone lines in the accommodation. There are numerous internet facilities all over Rome and should you require a computer for coursework at the school, we have a computer with internet access available in your classroom.
