TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Cassandra
Cassandra has recently completed the 120-hour online TEFL course with tutor support. In this TEFL review video she outlines the process involved with completing ITTT’s online certification course and recommends the course to anyone thinking about teaching English abroad or has an interest in ESL and would like to find out more.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit worked us through verb tenses and the different forms they take on. We discussed the correct usage of the present, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous variations of verbs. This is a subject matter that I can imagine causing confusion to new students. There are many exceptions and special words that do not fit within the \"rules\" that are applied. As a native speaker we can hear when something sounds incorrect, but without that background knowledge of having listened to the language your whole life, it will be a lot of memorization for new learners.Authentic materials are as important as created materials. When using authentic material it has to be considered the level of students. Some authentic materials can be frustrating for some students. Those materials make students feel they won't get that level. In the other hand reflecting about using or not a course book is something that has to be considered among teachers and school managers. Some books provides excellent guidelines and materials. Besides using a course book it is a good idea using using authentic and created materials, so the class do not get to predictable fr everybody.
