TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Joe Granville
In this TEFL review video Joe from England describes his experience during his four week TESOL/TEFL course in Chiang Mai, Thailand. ITTT regularly has special offers when you sign up for our four week training course. We often offer one of our specialized online courses free of charge. The free course can be taken up on successful completion of the four week course. The free options can include our Certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners, our Certificate in Teaching Business English or our TEFL Diploma course.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
As in the other chapters, this chapter presented me with new vocabulary to describe concepts I was already familiar with. Examples include the terms receptive vocabulary, productive vocabulary, and language functions. While the sample lesson plans for teaching new language and grammar structures were interesting, I was most intrigued by the elements of learning new language and the criteria for choosing which new language to teach. I look forward to getting to understand my students and their culture in order to structure vocabulary lessons that are most applicable and suited to their needs. This first unit, is an introduction to Teaching Business English. The most important point that I took away from this unit is that the teacher does not necessarily have to be an expert in the field in which he/she will teach. If the teacher has a glossary of the terms frequently used then the teacher can be effective with appropriate lesson planning and design. I also liked the term \"In house\" teacher. This is a teacher who is employed by a company to work with their employees anywhere between 18 and 35 hours for the week. I am excited to broaden my range as a teacher by doing this course.
