The task of a teacher is not simply to lecture a classroom full of students for the duration of the class period but instead to offer a diversity of activities that aim to encourage students to learn the material in an interactive way. Therefore, in some instances teachers are expected to fill the role of manager, prompter, assessor, and model just to name a few. By diversifying the type of activities and the participation expected from the students they will be more likely to learn the material.
