TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Nikki
In this TEFL review video, Nikki from South Africa talks about she is constantly travelling so an important criterion for her when choosing a TEFL course was that it should allow her to study while on the move. ITTT’s online courses provide the flexibility to study online wherever and whenever you want. Nikki was impressed by the range of courses and prices that ITTT has to offer and has now completed the main TEFL certificate course and an additional Certificate in Teaching Business English course.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit has a wealth of useful resources in it that I am sure I will refer to when teaching. I have certainly learned what to expect and how to handle using boards, including white boards and OHPs and smart boards. The unit covered the pros and cons of each, and mistakes that can be made if a teacher is not prepared to use them; this is also true for cassettes/CDs and videos. It is very important to have a backup plan should one of these electronic devices fail. The unit then listed a number of resources that I can use to help students, including dictionaries and online learning websites.Classroom management is an important aspect of learning/teaching as a friendly, relaxed and disciplined class enables effective learning and teaching. Keeping good eye contact helps to create good rapport and discipline. Gestures are useful in reducing the need for verbal expressions. Classes can be arranged in orderly rows, circles, separate table e.t.c depending on the size of the class, available spaces, chairs, tables e.t.c. In order to prevent indiscipline, one must be punctual, be clear, precise, consistent and fair, establish good rapport withe the students and teach with enthusiasm.
