TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Reena
In her TESOL review video, Reena tells us about the things she learned from her 120-hour online TESOL course with ITTT. The course helped Reena to strengthen her knowledge of English and also taught her essential teaching skills and concepts such as teaching methodologies, classroom management, lesson planning and more. Reena had a good experience studying with ITTT and looks forward to sharing her knowledge of English with others as a teacher.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit briefly introduced the relationship between teachers and students. This unit also introduced the idea of 'good teachers' and 'good learners.' A 'good teacher' is someone who loves to learn. A 'good teacher' is also patient, kind, understanding, able to correct behavior in a positive way, and enthusiastic about learning. The definition of a 'good learner' is someone whom wants to learn. A 'good learner' is willing to listen to the language, is willing to experiment with the language, is willing to receive error correction, and is willing to ask questions. Teachers have very important roles in the classroom. Teachers can take on many different roles within the classroom. A teacher can be an assessor, a manager, a facilitator, a prompter, and a modeler. Each of these roles will be required at some point during a teacher's lessons. It is important for teachers to understand the value of each of these roles and how to incorporate each one effectively. I believe all of these roles are equally important in an effective classroom. One thing this unit taught me was that different cultures have different expectations concerning education. It is important for teachers to understand the expectations of their particular area. Teachers should also understand that students are coming into the classroom with different experiences and expectations. It is the teacher's job to help each student to the best of his/her ability. A teacher that is understanding and genuinely cares for his/her students' learning will be effective in teaching English to non-native English speakers.
